Getting the most from biomolecular simulations:
a practical workshop

Barcelona, 10-11 July 2008

Welcome

Pre-registration closed

The Institute of Research in Biomedicine, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the Spanish National Institute of Bioinformatics and the British Collaborative Computational Project for Biomolecular Simulation (CCPB) with the collaboration of the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Foundation (fBBVA)are pleased to announce a 2-day workshop exploring the state-of-the-art in Biomolecular Simulation.

Limited to 36 participants and mixing seminar presentations with hands-on sessions, the workshop will concentrate on two vital issues in the molecular dynamics simulation of biomolecular systems. Firstly it will cover preparing systems for molecular dynamics, examining issues such as correcting structural errors, coping with ionisation states and solvation, plus equilibration procedures. Secondly it will cover tools and techniques for the analysis of the very large trajectory data sets modern simulations can produce, including the assessment of data quality and extraction of biologically relevant information.

The course will be suitable for those with limited previous experience in biomolecular simulation, though a basic understanding of simulation methodologies and of computing in a Unix/Linux environment will be needed.
